Morcom Paving was called out to inspect an incomplete job that another asphalt paving contractor had started. The customer asked the other paving contractor to stop mid project, because the contractor kept increasing the price as the job progressed.

When Morcom Paving inspected the driveway, we were horrified by what we found. The previous paving contractor had put a "Quarter Crown" in the base grade and adjusted their asphalt paver to pave at a one inch depth. This results in the visible outside edges of the driveway to be the proper three inch depth, but the center to only be one inch thick. Their intent was to deceive the customer into thinking the entire asphalt driveway was the proper three inch depth, so they could make more money by saving on asphalt costs.
The center-depth of the driveway was so thin, that in some places the gravel base was visible through the asphalt. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon practice amongst dishonest paving contractors. Morcom Paving is called out to inspect driveways paved by these types of paving contractors every year!

Morcom Paving installed the remaining asphalt driveway to the proper three inch depth, and provided the homeowner with future solutions for the improperly paved portion as it ages.
As you search for a paving contractor, remember the lowest estimate is not always the best. You need to evaluate the work outlined to be completed, the paving company itself, and companies customer reviews.

At Morcom Paving, unless you choose to change the scope of work, the estimate price we agree on is the price you will pay. We hold ourselves to the highest standard in the asphalt industry, and value integrity and quality craftsmanship above all else!
